This week marks the anniversary of the war in Afghanistan (October 7, 2001 was the launch of “Operation Enduring Freedom”). As we continue to work alongside our Afghan Peace Volunteer friends
1) Preemptive Love by Jeremy Courtney – Jeremy tells the story of their vision to “love now and ask questions later”, providing life-saving medical procedures to children in the Middle East war zone.
2) Walking Through Fire by Peggy Gish – I was in Iraq with Peggy in 2003 and returned in 2010 with her. Her book is the fruit of many years of bold adventures for peace, written from the trenches of war, filled with horror and hope.
3) For God and Country (in that order) by Logan Mehl-Laituri – Logan is a veteran with over 6 years in the US Army who felt the collision of cross and sword, of God and country, and writes about the agony of war as only a veteran can.
