The Myopic Nature of Greed

We have all heard before that money can’t buy happiness. We have all heard before that it doesn’t matter how much money we attain we will always want more. We have all heard before that money management starts with corralling unnecessary expenditures, not with higher income. We have all heard these things, we all generally agree with their principles, yet we have trouble applying them to our own lives.
Do I really believe that a new BMW, or a big screen T.V., or even an up-sized value meal from BK will bring me happiness? I say no, because I’ve trained myself to know the proper verbal response over many years, but a slight change to the question may reveal something else. Do I really believe that a new BMW, or a big screen T.V., or even an up-sized value meal from BK won’t bring me happiness? Here the question is different enough for me to explore my real thought patterns. Rather than prepackaged answers, I have to examine my true motives.
