EDITOR’S NOTE: Eastern University alumnus and Equal Justice Initiative founder Bryan Stevenson was named one of the 100 most influential people by TIME magazine this year. He’s argued persuasively before the US Supreme Court that children should not be sentenced to life in prison and he has fought tirelessly against the death penalty in Alabama, winning another falsely accused man’s freedom this year.
But Bryan Stevenson has decided that it’s not enough to win cases in America’s courts. We are facing a crisis in America and in our world. Without a moral movement for racial justice, the viability of our common life is in question.
Today RLC is glad to join Bryan and the EJI in inviting you to watch this video, share it with friends, and participate in a public conversation about how slavery has evolved in America. Only by facing the truth about our past (and present) can we begin to imagine a way forward together.
