RAWTools Philly training and service – Philadelphia, PA

RAWTools Philly is excited to host a special training event on March 12, 2022 in response to the gun violence plaguing our city and our communities.

From 9am-11am, there will be a demonstration on how to safely decommission unwanted firearms and register as a “safe surrender” site in the Philadelphia area at the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral .

From 12pm-3pm, there will be three workshops demonstrating how to make garden tools and art out of donated firearms. We will feature beginner to advanced training in blacksmithing, welding, and woodworking, hosted at the University of Pennsylvania. An online form attesting to COVID vaccination  and proof of vaccination are required on the campus.

From 4pm – 5pm at the Cathedral, there will be an opportunity for youth and young adults (ages 15-25) to make art from decommissioned firearms. They will receive a stipend for their participation.

Finally, there will be a service at 6pm at the Cathedral to honor the lives lost to gun violence and close the day with a call to action.
