Dear Red Letter Movement family,
We’re pumped to officially announce our newest international initiative: The Red Letter Marketplace!
We have created a hub for missional businesses on our website — just in time for the holidays. You’ll find businesses that make products from weapons and trash, handmade soaps and jewelry, companies that employ women rescued from sex trafficking and citizens returning from prison.
In fact, each business is considered “missional” because it fits at least one justice-based “stamp” category of approval including — recycled, handmade, sustainable, re-purposed weapons, responsibly sourced, or social impact.
We are launching with a diverse group of 8 businesses that we are already personally connected to, but we will be adding more soon. And that’s an invitation! You can nominate a business here!
In the weeks to come, we’ll be sharing more about some of these businesses and the stories of hope connected to them.
While we’ll continue to challenge the consumerism of Christmas and team up with folks like the Advent Conspiracy (reclaiming Christmas as a season of compassion rather than consumption), we’re also excited to connect justice-based micro business initiatives and make them easily accessible to the hundreds of thousands of friends who are part of the Red Letter movement.
This is not just something we are doing for the holidays, but a project we want to continue to grow and build. Folks ask us all the time where they can find ethical businesses. And some of the incredible projects employing refugees in places like Iraq and Syria need all the support we can give them right now. So all of this lines up perfectly with our vision and movement.
Please spread the word. And if you do give presents to each other this Christmas, consider supporting these amazing businesses.
